Saint Mary Bishophill Junior York

Twin bell openings with single shaft and through stone are of the late Saxon North Country Type as at Kirk Hammerton

The tower represents the oldest piece of ecclesiastical architecture in York.

Built in the late C11th the tower contains fragments of Anglian and Anglo Scandinavian funerary sculpture

Part of an area which was under scrutiny by George Pace for a conservation plan
