Hilton/Gmex Manchester

Hilton/Gmex Manchester, originally uploaded by fotofacade.

I just love using the zoom lens to bring architectural subjects closer together. Here we have the curved profile of the Victorian G Mex roof and the angular profile and straight lines of the recently completed Hilton/ Beetham tower, Manchester UK.

I have also introduced a subtle variation between the two buildings via layers in photoshop. I added a warm filter to the G Mex building and a cold filter to the Hilton Tower

Out at Work

Downtown in Manchester UK today to photograph the up and coming Northern Quarter which was once home to the rag trade but is now a receptacle for bright and contemporary architecture cross referenced with the worlds best of Victorian warehouse architecture.
Also photographed the Mancat College in Harpurhey to satiate my current fetish for all things contemporary and all things Bauhaus;)
The photo is of the recently completed Shudehill Interchange (see photo above) by Ian Simpson Architects

Saint Ann's and the Beetham Tower

Here is a photo of contrasts with the C18th tower of Saint Ann's in Manchester UK (which originally dominated the skyline of Manchester) and the massive bulk of the recently completed Beetham Tower (which now dominates the skyline of Manchester, Salford, and surrounding districts).
